Night 82

View over Alppila from rocks of Linnanmäki.
I noticed you can see rather far from there while I was shooting the fireworks (Night 71).

Night 81 (Back in Helsinki)

My aunt asked if  I'd do a commission and shoot swimming hall of Helsinginkatu
some night, for their staff magazine.
I returned to Helsinki tonight.

Night 79 (365NOH goes Carelia)

Went to my family's summer cabin to roast some sausage.
It was cool, just me and my little fire on the beach, in complete darkness.

Night 77 (365NOH goes Carelia)

Gasoline station in Imatra harbour.
I like how I got the "renting-a-boat-for-alligator-hunt"- feeling.
In freezing east wind of Finland in October.

Night 76 (365NOH goes Carelia)

The old bridge of Mansikkala. It's made of riveted iron, is damn narrow
and has rails for train on top of it.
How cool is that.

Night 75 (365NOH goes Carelia)

I played in a tunnel with long shutter time (30 seconds) and a lighter.
Meaning I ran around in a wet, muddy tunnel with a
lighter in my hand while camera stood on a tripod with timer.
Still, I like it.

Night 74 (365NOH goes Carelia)

HUGE piles of wood and smoke of paper factory.
Taken right next to an army base where they train border guards.

Some additional photos in Facebook page again.

Night 72 (365NOH goes Carelia)

Gate to some kind of industrial area in the end of Kuparitie.
I don't know what there is, but this pic has nicely Stalker-ish feeling.
Taken with timer.

Night 71 (365NOH goes Carelia)

Paper factory at Kaukopää, Imatra.
I like it how big factories look like sci-fi cities.

Night 70 (365NOH goes Carelia)

No man has ever made anything to match autumn's colours.
From my parents' yard.

Also: Learned about the caption fuction.. finally.

Night 69 (365NOH goes Carelia)

I'm still not in working condition so I decided to hang out in Imatra until I'm better.

This one is a bit before Lappeenranta, the train stopped for five minutes so that one going to the opposite direction could pass. It was getting dark and the scene looked like being in the middle of a dead forest.

Night 68

Nice old house on Sturenkatu.
The whole house is quite beautiful, but I couldn't get proper photo of it since there are lots of lamppost and tram cables in front of it, so here's a detail.

I've also always liked ivy.

Night 67

Tonight was the last night of Light Carnival at Linnanmäki amusement park.
It's closed earlier in the autumn, but opened for a bit over a week in October at 17-22 every night.
There are special lights for all the machines and trees and tonight they had fireworks show.

There's a separate album for additional Carnival photos in Facebook Page

Night 64

Got flu and almost blacked out to for even this one other words, I know it sucks. But the 60's SciFi Volkswagen is cool. I bet the register plate means Hip Flying Object.

Night 63

Portrait of Holy Mother.

I'm a sucker for catholic imagery, and bought many Mary statues from Vatican (as well as crosses and rosaries). Tonight I was too tired to go out (jet lag and all), so this will have to do.

Night 62

Helsinki from above!

It's not easy to take pictures from a descending plane. Especially when it's dark and all your stuff inside reflects from the glass.

Night 61 - Nights of Italy Special #8

My favourite little thing in Italy #374: they have Holy Mother statues everywhere.
This one's in a stone wall on the way up to the hill.

Night 60 - Nights of Italy Special #7

Under the last piece of uphill.. Mickey is painted by a 10-year old girl, who stayed at the residence with her family in September.

Night 59 - Nights of Italy Special #6

The street where Casa Finlandese is located.
Named after Lorenzo Lippi, an Italian painter and poet from 17th century.

Night 58 - Nights of Italy Special #5

Detail from the wall of a kind of barbeque shelter on the yard

Night 57 - Nights of Italy Special #4

Hills of Grassina. There was over a kilometer of steep hill to climb, so some breaks were required. All the astounding views made it easier though.

Night 56 - Nights of Italy Special #3

Old Mrs Cat. She's 18 years old and has two black daughters and a red son :)

The house is an old horse stable from 16th century, and Finnish Artists' Society has four studio-apartments in the end of it. Very beautiful.

Night 55 - Nights of Italy Special #2

View over Grassina (near Florence) from Casa Finlandese where I stayed.
Believe me when I say that the real thing was infinitely more awesome than this photo.

Night 54 - Nights of Italy Special #1

So, I got back home and here you are, photos for the last nine nights!

In Italy (and France or Spain, for that matter) every single little alley or street corner look like they are postcards come to life.
It's really hard to decide what to shoot, and eventually all that eye candy makes you numb and you don't shoot anything.

Well I tried..
This is Ponte Sisto in Rome to the direction of Trastevere.

365 Nights of the World coming up!

Early tomorrow morning I' ll be leaving to Italy for a week. So I'll be posting night shots from Rome, Firenze and  the little village called Grassina where I'll be staying.

Also, I'm not sure of internet connection there, so posts may very well be delayed, even until next week's Wednesday. Photos will be taken for each night anyway!

Night 53

Tonight I went to Käpylä to play Arkham Horror.
